Common Ground partnered with katto to design a digital platform focused on local communities, shared spaces, and civic engagement. The challenge was to translate community interaction into a structured but welcoming digital environment that encourages participation without friction. The project combined UX design, creative strategy, and web experience development into a single system designed for accessibility and inclusivity.
The research focused on how people engage with local initiatives and shared environments. Participation often depends on clarity, trust, and ease of access rather than complexity or feature depth. References included civic platforms, local event systems, and social participation tools. The goal was to understand how digital products can encourage real-world interaction. This phase defined a need for openness and simplicity.

The identity system was designed to feel welcoming and neutral. Typography and layout choices prioritized readability and approachability over visual complexity. Color and structure were kept minimal to ensure content remains the focus. The result is a system that feels inclusive and easy to navigate.
The platform was designed to connect users with local events, spaces, and initiatives in a straightforward way. Information is structured clearly, allowing users to quickly understand relevance and participation options. The experience removes barriers between discovery and action.

Content was designed to grow organically through community input. The system supports dynamic updates without breaking structure or clarity. This ensures long-term adaptability as the platform scales.

Common Ground becomes a functional civic platform that supports real-world interaction through digital clarity.
